Villa Savoye is a modernist house in Poissy, France, built by Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeannette between 1928 and 1931 as a weekend retreat for the Savoye family.Completed in 1931, it is considered an iconic example of Le Corbusier's "five points of architecture" but proved impractical to live in, with the family abandoning it after World War II. After the Savoyes were expropriated in 1958, the house was threatened with demolition but was eventually purchased by the state in 1962, listed as a Historic Monument in 1965, and restored in 1967 to become the museum it is today.
