The Maiden's Tower in Istanbul, Turkey, has a history stretching back to 408 BC when the Athenian general Alcibiades built a customs station on the islet. It was rebuilt by Byzantine emperors and later used as a defensive tower, lighthouse, and even a quarantine station during the Ottoman era. Damaged multiple times, the current stone structure was built in 1763, and it underwent extensive restoration from 2021–2023.
